The year is halfway over and that means that Games Done Quick has returned. Summer Games Done Quick officially kicks off today and is here for seven full days of speedrunning action. The best speedrunners in the world will be blazing through some of the top games of the past and present for a worldwide audience on Twitch.
Summer Games Done Quick comes to you from Bloomington, MN. This year's event will raise money for Doctors Without Borders. The fun is about to begin, so Shacknews is here with a handful of noteworthy runs from throughout the week that should not be missed.

I don't think we've mentioned this enough at Shacknews lately, but we miss Portal. Those were some fantastic puzzle games, ones that redefined the genre as everyone knew it. Portal 2 proved to be one of Valve's last truly great hurrahs as a game developer (Jury's out on Dota Underlords) and here it is on full display to help kick off Summer Games Done Quick.
Can't Even will look to stay inbounds and complete the whole single-player campaign in a little over an hour. Given how complex some of these solutions can get, finishing this one in any kind of quick fashion will be a fun feat to witness.
With Nintendo and Rare on speaking terms again, there's a little something extra special about seeing one of their all-time greatest collaborations make the SGDQ 2019 rotation. Donkey Kong Country 2 is arguably the best the series has ever had to offer and while Mr_Shasta won't be running through every level, there are still some fun tricks to check out over the course of this Any% run.
Sonic the Hedgehog recently celebrated his anniversary, which makes this a great time to revisit one of the better modern Sonic games. Sonic Generations is a diamond among the pile of coal that is 3D Sonic games, so it should be interesting to see thebluemania attempt to run this game in an hour flat. For those who are new to the Sonic series, come see the stark differences between old-school and new-school Sonic for yourselves.
