Today, during the Square Enix E3 2019 livestream, the iconic Japanese company had plenty of new information surrounding the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake to share with fans eager to get their hands on the game.

New footage of the game showed off a fantastic glimpse of the remake with footage from the first area of the game, including a close-up of Aerith Gainsborough and Cloud Strife arriving via train before a brief logo reveal.

Producer Yoshinori Kitase was present during the show, announcing that it will contain 2 Blu-rays worth of game content when it debuts, also noting that the "first game" in the project will focus on Midgar, becoming a "standalone game in its own right."

Cloud will attack, dodge, and block all in real time. The ATB system will return as well, offering Cloud a wealth of options to choose from in combat.

A boss encounter with the game's Scorpion Sentinel was showcased during the strem as well, teasing the interactions between Cloud and Barret as they took on the massive beast, as well as the ability to pause battle while selecting commands to issue.

Tifa Lockhart was yet to be revealed earlier during the stream, with Kitase noting that she will be "soon." This called into question what her final design will look like, but later in the presentation she was finally given some time in the spotlight.

She appears to have had a few changes to her character model, though she still retains much of the familiar look we know and love. In general, most of the characters are actually quite in line with their original design, which is great news for anyone feeling especially nostalgic about this RPG classic.

This news follows the official reveal of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date, which was officially revealed to audiences attending the Final Fantasy VII - A Symphonic Reunion concert at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (with yours truly there to catch it all). The hotly-anticipated remake will be touching down on PlayStation 4 as early as March 3, 2020.

The game will be playable on the E3 2019 show floor this year, so if you'll be in attendance you could very well to get your hands on the game before anyone else! Keep it locked to Shacknews for additional news and info.
