GG Boyz clinch Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 victory

Splatoon 2 fans had a hell of a show at the latest Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019. Hosted on-site at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, Nintendo put four of the world's top Splatoon 2 teams together for a shot at the world championship title. Players from all teams offered impressive displays of inkmanship, but when it was all said and done, Japan's GG Boyz managed to clinch the world championship victory.

The competition was hot right from the start. US team FTWIN came into the semifinals with determination, showcasing impressive skill in the initial Tower Control match, topping the efforts of Alliance Rogue to secure an early win. Though they lost in the Clam Blitz and Splat Zones modes, FTWin came back to take the Rainmaker and final Tower Control match to secure a victory in the semi-finals.

FTWin also went on to take an early lead against Japan's GG Boyz, again showcasing teamwork and strategy, winning the initial Tower Control match as well as the following Rainmaker matchup. However, GG Boyz fought back, claiming victory in the following Cam Blitz match, two Splat Zones matchups, and a final Rainmaker match to take the world championship prize.

All in all, it was a very tough fight. FTWin definitely put forth a good effort in Tower Control, taking a few surprising victories. The power of GG Boyz was not to be stopped, though, as the Japanese players were able to take one Splat Zones matchup win away from FTWin without using any of their specials.

The Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 is now over, with GG Boyz claiming a well-earned victory. The tournament action is far from finished, however, and fans can still tune in to catch the end of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019.
