Destiny 2 moving to Steam from Battle.net

Bungie announces Destiny 2 is coming to Steam, not the Epic Games Store, from Battle.net.

In addition to announcing the new partnership with Google to bring Destiny 2 to Google Stadia, Bungie has announced that the PC version of Destiny 2 is coming to Steam, making the transition from Battle.net.

Ever since Bungie and Activision called it quits, players have wondered where the PC version of Destiny 2 would land. The Epic Games Store was a popular prediction given that everything seems to come out there these days, but Bungie has opted to go to Steam, despite a cheeky joke from Luke Smith teasing Epic just before announcing Steam.

While there are still some players concerned with how the PC version will hold up now that Bungie has split from Activision, Luke Smith summed it all up quite well. The Battle.net version of Destiny 2 will be packed up and moved to Steam for you. Everything you have worked for, owned, unlocked, and bought will come with you, like movers coming to pick up your stuff and moving you to a new house. It all sounds good, but here’s to hoping it goes off without a hitch.

Shadowkeep was also confirmed for a release date of September 17, 2019, which is in line with the yearly September expansion that Bungie has become known for in its run of Destiny 2. There are a lot of details for folks to dig into, and Shacknews will be hitting it all. Check out the Shacknews Destiny 2 complete strategy guide to keep up with the enormous amount of content coming to the universe.

Hmm, not many details like when this is happening and how it's going to work and what users have to do with the actual transfer from bnet account to steam account.

It will happen by Shadowkeep's release , and it will use the cross-save capabilities. They will probably have a page on bungie.net to long into your battle.net stuff and link your steam account to it so they know its you. So when the Steam version lands, they pull out your stuff from cross-save.

        Destiny 2 on PC

With all of these changes afoot, we find ourselves in need of a new home for the Destiny PC community. On September 17, Destiny 2 will become available on Steam. Current PC players will be able to bring all of their progress and purchases with them. Their Guardians, their vaults, and all of their progress will make the move with just a few quick steps. We’ll have more announcements on this topic later this summer, and we are committed to ensuring this change is a as simple and seamless as possible.

Watch this space for updates on how to make the move to Steam when the time is right.

They didn't give a lot of details. Probably they don't have them yet. But it came off as if it would be easy. We'll see.
