The latest game deserves the latest tech, which is why RTX ray tracing support is slated to land in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019. Announced just earlier today through a joint release from Nvidia and Activision, the latest FPS title on PC will offer all of the glorious detail offered by ray-traced physics and graphics.
The details here are straightforward: Bolstered by the folks at GeForce, Infinity Ward will be able to offer the finest possible visual experience in Modern Warfare 2019. According to Infinity Ward co-studio head Dave Stohl, the RTX tech made a "great addition" to the team's existing work.
"Our work with NVIDIA GPUs has helped us throughout the PC development of Modern Warfare,” Stohl said. “We’ve seamlessly integrated the RTX features like ray tracing and adaptive shading into our rendering pipeline. It’s been a great addition to our existing technology, and we look forward to our PC fans experiencing it for themselves very soon.”
Speaking in a press release hosted over on the Nvidia website, GeForce marketing head Matt Wuebbling said the partnership with Activision was a solid opportunity to blend cutting-edge technology with the series' strong sense of immersion.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is poised to reset the bar upon release this October,” Wuebbling said. “NVIDIA is proud to partner closely with this epic development and contribute toward the creation of this gripping experience. Our teams of engineers have been working closely with Infinity Ward to use NVIDIA RTX technologies to display the realistic effects and incredible immersion that Modern Warfare offers.”
The power of Nvidia's RTX technology is certainly stunning to behold, but the tech is currently only available on PC. As such, console players won't be seeing ray traced graphics in Modern Warfare 2019 for consoles any time soon.
