Mortal Kombat 11 DLC roster will be revealed in the next week

The Mortal Kombat franchise's favorite question over the last couple of installments has been "Who's Next?" That question has continued to linger following Mortal Kombat 11's release, with Warner Bros. and NetherRealm promising a full roster of DLC fighters. To this point, the only known character is Shang Tsung. However, by next week, it appears that fans will know everyone else who's set to jump into the fray.

Late Sunday evening, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon took to Twitter to state that the current plan is to reveal the full roster of fighters set to join Mortal Kombat 11's DLC roster in the days ahead. The estimate for the reveal is "next week," which means the announcement is imminent. To this point, the only DLC character revealed so far has been Shang Tsung, with the twist being that the old sorcerer will return with original 1995 Mortal Kombat movie actor Cary Tagawa set to reprise his role. This was revealed back in March at Chicago's C2E2 comic convention.

So far, there are no hints as to who will join the roster. Boon himself has been quiet on this topic outside of Sunday night's tweet. There's certainly no shortage of characters to choose from, especially with the Story Mode's motif of utilizing characters from the franchise's present and past. Shacknews has a few guesses, but like Boon, we're keeping our cards close to our chest and will go in a little deeper on this topic later in the week.

In the meantime, Sunday night was also noteworthy for an incredible Mortal Kombat 11 tournament unfolding before a capacity Combo Breaker crowd. It was Scar's night, as he capped off a dominant weekend. If you're looking to dive into MK11 yourself, whether it be kompetitively or kasually, be sure to check out our full walkthrough and guide.
