Overwatch Replays are now available in PTR

Players can watch their past games any way like now that Replays have landed in the Overwatch Public Test Realm.

Being able to watch past matches is a great way for competitive gamers to find new strategies and overcome their own mistakes. That functionality has now landed in Overwatch, as the team at Blizzard have just announced that Overwatch Replays have landed in the game's Public Test Realm.

Detailed in a blog post featured on the Blizzard Entertainment website, the new function allows players to "Hone [their] strategies by slowing down or speeding up the game to see exactly how a critical moment played out, or get a better view of the action from on high with or without the UI."

The team states that the Replays feature can only be used by PC players on the PTR for now, but assuming everything works as intended, console players should see it arriving on their platform of choice "soon."

Overwatch Replays will be available by navigating over to the Player Profile, then locating the Replays tab. From here, users can browse through their previous ten matches (across all game modes except for practice modes) and watch any of them they choose. The list will be cleared out as new matches are played, or any time a new patch is released.

With a host of controls and various options for speed and viewing angles, Overwatch Replays will certainly become a popular way to share highlights with the gaming community. Entertainment aside, it also has plenty of potential as a learning tool, assuming players don't mind watching themselves get demolished over and over again. The Replays tool functions as might be expected, but notably allows the scroll wheel to be used to increase or decrease the playback speed.

PC players interested in learning more about the Replays feature can find more details over on the Overwatch website. For the rest of your Blizzard-themed competitive gaming news, be sure to stop by Shacknews' Overwatch home page.
