Over the past couple of days, Blizzard has been teasing what's next for Overwatch. On Monday, the publisher revealed that it was time for the annual Overwatch Archives event, the lore-based seasonal event that fills in some of the blanks for the story of the heroic Overwatch team. A day after that tease, Blizzard has released a few more details.

Storm Rising will see the addition of a four-player co-op mission. Players will select either Tracer, Genji, Winston, or Mercy, as this strike team heads to Cuba in pursuit of Omnic Talon boss Maximilien. With hopes of being able to take down the Omnic Talon organization by taking out its money source, the Overwatch strike team searches for him in his Cuban hideout. But players will only have a limited time to extract Maximilien before he can escape and go underground again.

Blizzard is promising more than 160 cosmetic items over the course of Storm Rising, with the publisher expected to offer some peeks at the various items throughout the leadup to Storm Rising's release. Players will also be able to revisit the Uprising and Retribution events, in case anyone wants to relive that lore or pick up any cosmetic items that they might have missed. Like Uprising and Retribution, Storm Rising's missions will be fully replayable.

The path towards Storm Rising began on Sunday with Blizzard posting some tales from Cuba, telling the story of a Cuban rum maker, while also warning about a crushing hurricane set to hit the island nation. Blizzard confirmed on Tuesday that Hurricane Ferdinand will play a role in the Storm Rising mission, as the Overwatch team must extract Maximilien while the storm begins to move in over his stronghold.

Overwatch: Storm Rising is set to run from April 16 through May 6. More information on this event is almost a certainty, so be on the lookout in the days ahead. Shacknews will stay on top of this story, but in the meantime, be sure to visit the Overwatch website for more.

But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
