Humble Bundle cofounders step down: "we're more startup kinda guys"

John Graham and Jeffrey Rosen, cofounders of popular digital game distribution storefront Humble Bundle, are stepping down from their executive roles at the company. Their positions will be filled by Alan Patmore, a former executive with American game development studio Kixeye.

According to a report from GamesIndustry.biz, this move comes after more than a decade of leadership with the company. With that said, the duo are confident in the skills of Patmore when it comes to commanding Humble's daily operations. The report indicates that Patmore's role with the company has already begun.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Graham and Rosen explained why they feel now is the right time to step away from Humble Bundle:

"It's been ten years, and after doing this for a while I'm in a place where I think it's time for me to take a break," Graham said. "The business is doing amazingly well; 2018 was our best year, and 2019 is off to our best start ever. We got to go onstage at the Epic keynote. We've got tons of momentum. [...] But we found somebody who's better for taking the business to new heights in the future than we are."

"We're not leaving. We'll still be here -- more as advisors -- all the way until the end of the year, and hopefully a long way past that," Rosen said. "[We're] more startup kinda guys, and Humble Bundle has become huge. For our benefit and for Humble Bundle's benefit, I think Alan is going to do a really good job."

The duo certainly seem to have made the right choice: Replacement Patmore, who now holds the position of General Manager as well as EVP, cut his teeth in the industry working with developers Double Fine and Zynga, where he held the positions of Vice President of Product and General Manager, respectively.

It doesn't appear that the shift in management will have any sort of effect on the general function of Humble Bundle, so players shouldn't expect any sort of service changes or outages any time soon. Of course, now that both Rosen and Graham are free to move on to other projects, we may be hearing about exciting new developments from them sometime in the future.
