Looking to pick up a free game today? Bethesda has you covered, with a lengthy one, to boot.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is free today in celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls franchise. Bethesda is going away the Windows PC version of the game with an offer that's only valid today, March 25.

To get the game, you'll need a Bethesda.net account, and you'll need to redeem the code "TES25TH-MORROWIND" to see the game added to your account. Then, bingo! You've got a fresh, free new copy of the game.

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since the series began, but it's true. The Elder Scrolls: Arena debuted in 1994, but then the game really hit the mainstream scene in 2002 with Morrowind hitting store shelves. It was one of the most intriguing entries in the series, and people still find themselves going back to it time and time again. It was an influential title as well, setting up the blueprints for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, two games that you no doubt likely already own.

To continue its 25th anniversary celebration, Bethesda is also serving up a variety of promotions for games like The Elder Scrolls Online as well as The Elder Scrolls: Legends. There's a big celebration going on, but none compared to how folks will celebrate when the latest entry in the series, The Elder Scrolls 6, eventually makes its debut. We don't know much (if anything) about it just yet, but we know it's coming.

For now, enjoy the free game and keep an eye out for more news about the Elder Scrolls series in general. We'll be bringing it to you whenever it happens – potentially at Bethesda's E3 showcase later this year? It's possible!
