The latest Quake Champions patch notes are bringing with it a new season, new rewards to earn through the Battle Pass, and updates about esports events. Outside of these new things being added to the game, id Software are also unlocking custom games for all players.
Making custom games available for all players is a massive step in the right direction. Now, all players can get in and tinker with the rules and play against bots. In the past, custom games were only available by purchasing Quake Champions for its full price.

The patch notes also makes mention of a community-made item appearing in the store for purchase. Player can get the Chibi Icons Pack to add a little bit of a soft side to the hardcore deathmatch slaying.
With the release of the new season, id Software is retiring the Champions Pack. This is decision is to shift the focus onto the Battle Pass, which offers arguably better value for money. In fact, one of the benefits of the Champions Pack was the inclusion of custom game hosting, which is now included for free for all players. Anyone that owned the current Champions Pack and Scalebearer Edition will keep the Champions and any cosmetics unlocked.
There are also a host of performance improvements and quality of life changes introduced with the March patch. The update notes makes mention of server networking improvements and client rending updates that should result in a better experience for players. The team has also gone through the maps and fixed up areas where they were underperforming, resulting in undue stress on players’ PCs. Also included in the patch notes are a lot of balances to some of the champions.
On the esports side of things, id Software has announced a new season spanning from 2019 into 2020. A Duel tournament will launch the season at QuakeCon 2019 and continue into 2020 with the World Championship.
