It looks like the cat is out of the bag regarding the release date for the new action game from Remedy Entertainment. Control, which was revealed during E3 2018, will release August 27, 2019, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The release date was originally leaked by Microsoft, a leak that was spotted by WCCFTECH. In an official statement to Shacknews, the Remedy Entertainment team confirms the release date leak to be accurate. Control will be arriving next month. For PC players, Epic Games revealed during the GDC 2019 keynote that Control will be one of the titles coming to the Epic Games store via limited exclusivity.

If you're unfamiliar with Control, its a supernatural 3rd-person action adventure from Remedy Entertainment, the team behind Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Quantum Break. All of those titles are engaging, well-received third-person experiences with some fairly supernatural elements mixed into the experience, so Remedy is coming at us with a style the team knows how to do well.

In Control, a secret agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat and you play as the new director of that agency, hoping to regain control. The premise is pretty on-the-nose, but there are bound to be twists and turns throughout the narrative. The gameplay plays out in a world with shifting architecture and environments and players can utilize supernatural abilities, upgrades, and modifiable loadouts to fight through them. The surroundings can be harness as weapons as well, with dynamic environmental destruction as a feature in Control.

As leaked by Microsoft and officially confirmed by Remedy Entertainment, Control will launch August 27, 2019, on PC (via the Epic Games Store), PS4, and Xbox One. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional gaming and tech updates.
