Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been playing almost all the Halo for several years on Xbox One. ("Almost," but let's hold that thought for a second.) But Microsoft has a little something special for the PC audience. The Master Chief Collection compilation is about to see the light of day on PC for the first time, with Microsoft Store and Steam releases both planned for later this year.
But don't get too excited just yet, because 343 Industries won't have the whole package ready out of the gate. With the goal being to get each individual game up to high quality standards, 343 will issue out each Master Chief Collection game individually. With that said, let's go back to that "almost all the Halo" statement from earlier. One specific game had yet to make the collection, but that's about to change when Halo: Reach releases on both PC and Xbox One.
Halo: Reach's multiplayer will be added to the core Master Chief Collection experience for no extra charge. Those looking to pick up that game's campaign and Firefight mode will be able to grab it as a DLC purchase. Pricing details are not available at this time. Those who want the total package may want to look into Xbox Game Pass. Game Pass users will get the full Master Chief Collection, including the Reach campaign, multiplayer, and Firefight.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC will add Halo games chronologically as time goes on. After Reach releases, look for the game to gradually add in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, the Halo 3: ODST campaign, and Halo 4. Because of this staggered release schedule, cross-play between PC and Xbox One does not appear to be in the cards, at least for the moment. Halo Waypoint will offer the latest information on the status of each game's progress.
There's no specific release date set for the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Nor is there a date for Halo: Reach's arrival. Those looking to get any taste of Halo, however, may be interested to hear that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is currently available on the Xbox One's Xbox Game Pass service.
Ozzie Mejia posted a new article, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC with Reach
I'm okay with the staggered release. Bring it the fsck on.
Halo is one of the most phenomenal games you'll in the hall of fame.
I'm so glad that 343 Industries has finally given fans of the Halo series a compilation.
Will the split screen still be there?
