If you’ve been playing battle royale games for the past couple of years, then you’ve seen your fair share come and go. Out of all the titles that have come, Epic Games free-to-play shoot and build mash-up has made a huge impact on the world, quickly becoming the biggest game in the world. With the recent success of Respawn’s Apex Legends, many have found themselves curious—just how many players does Fortnite actually have?

How many people play Fortnite?

With the recent success of Apex Legends, many players have found themselves curious of how the game stands up to Epic Games giant, Fortnite. If you haven't been paying attention to the latest news, then you might not be aware of the latest records hit by Respawn's fast-paced shooter. Apex Legends just topped 50 million players, which is definitely a record worth celebrating for developer Respawn Entertainment. While these numbers are nothing to scoff at, the new free-to-play shooter has a bit to go before it catches up to Fortnite, which set a massive record for itself near the end of last year.

According to the latest player number reveals, which came in November of 2018, Fortnite has reached an astronomical 200 million registered players. At the time the game also had 80 million monthly players, which is quite astonishing when you really think about it. Of course, these are all numbers pulled from the end of last year. Since that time Fortnite has launched Season 8, giving players even more content and changes to experience.

There’s no official statement on just how many people are playing Fortnite now, in March of 2019. However, the numbers from November are nothing to scoff at. Epic Games has more than earned their place at the top of the battle royale food chain. No matter which game you support—Apex Legends or Fortnite—it’s great to see both developers succeeding at what they set out to do, and we can only hope that growth continues for both games as the future wears on.
