Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Fit wearables announced

Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked 2019 event has been packed with fresh product reveals, and among those were our first looks at the new Samsung Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Fit wearables. Targeting the ever-growing smartwatch market, these wearables offer the latest in mobile technology with more than a few features aimed at health-conscious customers.

The latest additions to Samsung's line of wearables is blood pressure monitoring, a new features for the Galaxy Watch Active. The blood pressure monitor works in tandem with software jointly develoed at the University of California San Francisco, and combines with stress management and fitness tracking tools to help keep mobile users on top of their health and well-being.

The Galaxy Watch Active offers a 1.1-inch display in a 40mm watch form factor paired to a dual-core 1.15GHz processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, and a 230mAh battery. The smaller Galaxy Fit offers a more pared-down device running a 0.95-inch AMOLED display paired to a 96MHz MCU Cortex M33F processor and 512KB RAM.

According to a press release featured on the official Samsung website, the Galaxy Watch Active "enriches your lifestyle and expands your connected experience through seamless integration across the Galaxy ecosystem. Galaxy Watch Active is compatible with Android and iOS and offers indoor/outdoor activity tracking,and features popular third-party apps—including Under Armour, Spotify and Strava. You can use your voice to control Galaxy Watch Active with Bixby’s voice capabilities that allow you to make calls or send messages without ever picking up your phone."

The Galaxy Watch Active is slated to release in the US on March 8 for $200, while the Galaxy Fit is expected to launch sometime in the second quarter of 2019. Samsung also revealed the new wireless Galaxy Buds, which will also launch on March 8 for $130.
