Jackery talks portable solar power

Published , by Donovan Erskine

Shacknews’ CEO and Editor-in-chief Asif Khan spoke with Jackery Inc at CES 2019 to talk about their latest solar powered technology. Jackery is a company that specializes in powerful portable battery packs, particularly for use when outdoors. They’ve now revealed their Portable power station, a large battery pack that is completely charged by the sun through the use of solar panels. In the interview below, we learn all about this cool new device.

As mentioned, the Portable power station is meant to charge electronic devices such as smartphones and laptops, along with smaller appliances. Before it can do so, the power bank must be charged. It takes the 240-watt Power station approximately seven and a half hours to go from completely empty to a full charge. From there, you’ll just plug in your electronic devices as you would at a regular outlet.

Jackery recently announced a partnership with Honda, in which they are supplying the automotive giant with generator technology. More details on that partnership can be found in the interview. There are currently two variations of the Portable power station on sale. The Generator Explorer 240 costs $249.99. Alternatively, the Generator Explorer 160 is less powerful but cheaper option, going for $169.99.
