Where to find Buell the horse in Red Dead Redemption 2

Learn how to find Buell in the Veteran Stranger Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2.

1

As you complete chapters in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll begin to come across new Stranger Missions which are strewn all about the world. After completing Chapter 5, and beginning Chapter 6, a new stranger will appear in the northern portion of the map, up near O’Creagh’s Run. As you grow close to the area you should hear a man calling out to you. Talking to him will kick off the Veteran storyline, where you’ll be tasked with quite a few things, including finding the old man’s horse, Buell.

Where to Find Buell

After talking to the stranger you’ll kick off the first of four side quests that you can complete the finish up the storyline. The first side quest will task you with finding the Hamish’s horse, Buell. Thankfully, the horse is located nearby, next to the lake just up the road.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Veteran mission start point
You can find Hamish up the road from Three Sisters.

Head to the marker that’s been so helpfully added to your map and look for the horse near the bank. You’ll need to calm it before you can approach it, but this shouldn’t take you very long to do. Once you’ve calmed the horse, collect it and return to Hamish. This will complete the first mission in this storyline, giving you the option of moving on by heading to his house the next day.

If you continue through this storyline of quests, you’ll actually end up with a chance to keep Buell. This is the only chance you’ll have to keep the horse, so make sure you have room in your stable and remember to grab him after the final mission completes, otherwise you’ll miss out on this opportunity. Choosing to keep the horse will also boost your honor, though we won’t spoil the reasons why just yet.
