Paradox Interactive acquires Prison Architect

Published , by Josh Hawkins

Introversion Software, the developers responsible for creating Prison Architect, have sold the rights and assets for the IP to Paradox Interactive. Known for their various simulation and management games, like Cities: Skylines and Surviving Mars, Paradox is excited for the future that they’ll be able to create with Prison Architect under their umbrella.

If you’ve never played Prison Architect, then you’re missing out on one of the smoothest and most entertaining simulation games available right now. In it, players must construct a working prison, complete with showers, a cafeteria, and even things like an execution chamber. The game itself managed to win a BAFTA award for management simulation game, having sold over two million copies across PC and console platforms.  As mentioned above, Prison Architect fits right into place with Paradox, and fans of the game can expect to see it continue to grow and thrive under the new leadership.

In Prison Architect players must build and manage a prison with all the bells and whistles.

On top of Prison Architect’s future remaining bright, though, fans of Introversion Software’s work in the past can also look forward to whatever project they decide to take on next. Without Prison Architect to keep them busy, their time is open to move on to bigger, brighter things, which I’m sure we’ll hear about when they’re ready to share.

For now, though, we can all rest easy knowing that the prison-management sim we’ve grown to love over the past several years will continue to shine brightly as a pillar of success. You can check out the original press release to read all the gritty details about the acquisition, where Paradox even touches on their plans to possibly expand the Architect IP in the future.
