Hold on to your pants everyone, next-gen gaming has arrived. Announced at the start of CES 2019, NIVIDIA's GeForce RTX 2060 is bringing Ray Tracing, AI capabilities, and more to gamers at the $349 price point on January 15, 2019. The new GPU will be available globally on that date.

“Next-gen gaming starts today for tens of millions of gamers everywhere,” said NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang, who unveiled the RTX 2060 at the start of the CES 2019 tradeshow. “Desktop gamers are demanding, and the RTX 2060 sets a new standard — an unbeatable price, extraordinary performance and real-time ray tracing that blurs the distinction between movies and games. This is a great moment for gamers and our industry.”

The RTX 2060 is equipped with 6GB of GDDR6 memory, 240 Tensor Cores, and can reach 2x the performance of the GTX 1060 GPU. Battlefield 5, one of the most visually impressive games that also serves as one of the stronger early titles that shows off Ray Tracing, will get an update in the near future for DLSS support. As explained in the press release, DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) "leverages a deep neural network to extract multidimensional features of the rendered scene and intelligently combine details from multiple frames to construct a high-quality final image" and, via that process, creates "a clear, crisp image with similar quality as traditional rendering, but with higher performance."

This new NVIDIA GPU features GeForce Experience as well, which includes NVIDIA Highlights, Ansel, and Freestyle. These programs give gamers an easy-to-use platform to share high-quality gameplay clips and images, while being able to add filters to them. The RTX 2060, when it luanches January 15, 2019, will be bundled with Anthem or Battlefield 5 for a limited time. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
