Kingdom Hearts fans have plenty to look forward to before and after the holidays.

Square Enix announced that a special free Kingdom Hearts: VR Experience is launching on PlayStation VR on December 25, Christmas Day. Currently, it appears to have only been confirmed for Japan, but it's likely Western fans will get a chance to join in on the festivities, too.

The VR Experience is a virtual reality-powered music video that seeks to look back on the history of the Kingdom Hearts series. it will launch with some of the main story's stages for its first installment, and then add a special update on January 18, 2019 with more stages for a second part.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom Hearts 3 opening video just debuted, featuring the opening song "Face My Fears" by Utada Hikaru featuring Skrillex, which our own Ozzie Mejia has broken down for your reading pleasure. There's also a special Disney event happening soon, to celebrate the impending release of Kingdom Hearts 3 that you won't want to miss.

For a limited time, Disney Springs guests can be the first to try out the Kingdom Hearts 3 demo. Plus, anyone who goes before January 25 will be the first to try out the game in the first place – it's coming January, after all. The event will feature a fun pop-up experience with a Keyblade exhibit and life-size replicas taken from the game as well as character-inspired artwork, digital kiosks to pre-order, and exclusive merchandise to take home.

Square Enix is really pushing Kingdom Hearts 3, understandably of course, so we can't wait to see what comes of this VR experience and all the other fun stuff going on in anticipation of the game. In the meantime while you wait, there's always plenty of trailers to check out and salivate over.
