Wreckfest console launch delayed indefinitely for quality assurance

The PC release has set a high bar and Bugbear doesn't want to put console players in the driver's seat until the version matches or exceeds it.

Sad news, hazardous drivers around the gaming world. Wreckfest has already built up a pile of decommissioned vehicles on PC, but the console release has been delayed indefinitely as the development team Bugbear works toward the quality bar set by the PC version. It was originally set to launch on PS4 and Xbox One November 20, 2018.

The game is a demolition derby themed racier with soft-body damage modeling, resulting in some fairly destructible rides. It also features some deep vehicle customizaton, so players can express themselves thoroughly before their unique rides get driven to pieces.

The multiplayer aspect of Wreckfest seems to be the biggest roadblock, as revealed in a statement, but the team is going to include more vehicles as compensation for the delay. In the press release from the Wreckfest team, they offered up this "anti-bullsh*t" quote from THQ Nordic Senior Producer Roger Joswig on the delay and why there's no date for the time being:

"Wreckfest for consoles will only be released as soon as we love playing it. After the fantastic release on PC, the benchmark for the console release is much higher. At this moment, the team needs more time to polish the multiplayer part, as well as the overall performance on the game to bring it up to par with the experience on PC. We are sorry for keeping fans waiting longer because of this. However, we already have compensation in the form of further vehicles, including a special crazy vehicle, in the works for consoles. "
