Popular Fortnite streamer Ninja makes appearance on The Ellen Show

Video game streaming continues to grow in popularity and is invading mainstream pop culture.

Even if you don’t know of popular Twitch streamer Ninja, chances are that you know kids or teen who do. Fortnite’s most prolific streamer is consistently the number one attraction on Twitch and is a certifiable worldwide star. Traditional media is being forced to pay attention to this growing segment of the entertainment industry and there is no better example of this that Ninja’s appearance on The Ellen Show today.

The Ellen Show has been a daytime television stalwart for more than fifteen years now, but it caters to an older, mostly-female demographic. This didn’t stop them from booking Tyler Blevins (aka Ninja) from appearance on the show alongside Ryan Gosling and Lenny Kravitz. The streamer took host Ellen Degeneres on a guided tour of Fortnite as the two dropped onto the battlefield for a few rounds of the most popular game in the world.

While this is not the first occurence of video game culture seeping into traditional media, (late night host Conan O’Brien has been hosting game sessions on his show for years) this is the first time that a streamer has been the star attraction.
