Fans have been digging into the constantly evolving Blackout battle royale mode while Treyarch tests out Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 during the beta phase, but, now, the team is giving everyone a peek at the post-launch plans. There will be new maps, characters, events, and additions to the Blackout mode after launch and all these things will be available to PS4 players first.

This announcement is an extension of a partnership between Activision and Sony that also gave PS4 players access to the beta before Xbox One and PC users. The specific additions coming post-launch  were announced in a PlayStation blog post and are detailed below:

  • Nuketown: This fan-favorite map returns in November in an all-new take.
  • Specialists: The first of several new characters will debut in December.
  • Blackout: Launch day is only the start; Blackout will continue to evolve after launch with regular map updates, expansions and new Blackout modes.
  • Events: Seasonal, weekly, and time-limited events bringing new game modes and content to players.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to launch October 12, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The 2018 window is closing rapidly, but it is stuff with intruiging games and you can see what's getting released in the Shacknews 2018 Video Game Release Date Schedule. Stay tuned for additional updates!
