Nothing sets FPS fans' trigger fingers itching like a new Call of Duty game, and the team at Treyarch are edging ever closer to the imminent release of Black Ops 4, the series' latest high-energy outing. Of particular note is the game's current Blackout beta test, which is meant to give players a taste for how Treyarch is managing to squeeze the battle royale formula into their latest shooter. Participation is limited to those with pre-orders, and judging by the system requirements offered by Treyarch, PC players are going to want to bring a machine with some grunt.


Blackout beta PC system requirements

Here are the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Blackout beta PC system requirements. Treyarch has noted that the following recommended system requirements "are for Beta only. You got that, right? Beta only. Specs." It's likely, though not guaranteed, that the requirements will relax a little once the game makes its proper release. For now, here's what the Blackout beta requires:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k or AMD equivalent
  • RAM: 8GB RAM
  • HDD: 25GB free
  • Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2 GB / GTX 1050 2GB or AMD Radeon HD 7950
  • DirectX: Version 11.0 compatible video card or equivalent
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
  • Operating system: Windows 7 64-Bit or later

Recommended system requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k or AMD equivalent
  • RAM: 12GB RAM
  • HDD: 25GB free
  • Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 / GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon R9 390 / AMD RX 580
  • DirectX: Version 11.0 compatible video card or equivalent
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
  • Operating system: Windows 10 64 Bit

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta dates and times

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta officially kicks off for PC and Xbox One players starting on September 14 at 10 a.m. Pacific time. PlayStation 4 players are currently enjoying the Blackout beta, as it began yesterday, September 10, and is slated to run exclusively on PS4 through September 14.

Whether on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One, participants can expect the Blackout beta to end on September 17 at 10 a.m. Pacific time. After that, players will have to wait until Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 makes its formal release on October 12.
