Dead or Alive 6 gameplay interview details Leifang, Hitomi, and Forbidden Fortune arena

Despite a number of sexually charged, volleyball-focused spinoff titles, Dead or Alive is still a series very much steeped in the world of combat and martial arts. The series' latest entry, Dead or Alive 6, looks to keep the punches rolling and the bodies bouncing in all the ways that fans might expect. Shacknews was able to meet up with Emmanuel Rodriguez, community manager at KoeiTecmo, at Gamescom 2018 to learn more about the latest iterations of both Leifang and Hitomi, plus get an early peek at the new Forbidden Fortune arena.

Series fans will note that the movesets of both fighters remain largely intact, though they'll also note the characters' new redesigns. Much of the gameplay footage also shows off the Forbidden Furtune arena, the likes of which features a massive octopus, spear traps, and explosive barrels to ramp the potential for danger up to 11. Rodriguez asserts that these hazards aren't random, but instead are meant to add a strategic layer to gameplay. He also mentioned that there's a stash of gold hidden somewhere in the Forbidden Fortune area, though it's not exactly clear just what players might be able to use it for.

Dead or Alive 6 is slated to launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in March of 2019.
