Starlink: Battle For Atlas interview: "It's all about player freedom"

Ubisoft is betting that Starlink will succeed where other toys-to-life games have faltered.

It was huge news when Ubisoft first took the wraps off of its new space combat game Starlink: Battle For Atlas last year and even bigger news that ship customization would be linked with real, physical figurines that can interact with the game. Fast forward eighteen months later, the team at Ubisoft Toronto is preparing to launch the game on PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

Speaking of the Switch version, players are understandably excited about the inclusion of Star Fox and the famous Arwing ship. We got a chance to speak with Richard Carrillo, Game Director at Ubisoft Toronto about building the world of Starlink, how the game avoids the mistakes made by previous toys-to-life platforms, and how Nintendo’s famous fox space pilot fits into the universe.
