This second of three major expansions focuses on combat via three specific pillars of thought.

The strategy around DLC for the Pillars of Eternity world has shifted a bit with the sequel, Deadfire, as each release takes a specific element of the game and injects it with a shot of adrenaline. The Beasts of Winter delivered larger-than-life conflicts with wondrous creatures, but the next delves into the pits to focus on combat. The Seeker, Slayer, Survivor DLC for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire will challenge players three specific ways when it arrives on September 25, 2018.

“Delving into a rich story, exploring fascinating new environments, and unearthing powerful items are still crucial, but players will experience combat trials like they have never seen before as combatants in the Crucible” said Brandon Adler, DLC Game Director for Obsidian, in the press release.

The teaser trailer above only gives you a quick peek into what's in store later this month, but a press release for the new expansion includes some detail. First, the name of the DLC tells you what to expect with the DLC's challenges. Seeker, Slayer, Survivor tells of the three pillars of combat that make up the new content:

  • Seeker: Tasks players with looking for a solution to take down foes
  • Slayer: Players' skills are tested against waves of enemies
  • Survivor: Challenges players with "truly fearsome" creatues in battles to the death

The new DLC will also be host to the typical bug fixes and balance improvements that the Obsidian team has regularly released since the launch of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
