Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode will include AI zombies

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 isn't far away from a full release, but there are also some key beta dates still ahead. One of the most anticipated betas is for Black Ops 4's Blackout mode, which is the franchise's first step into the battle royale genre. From the beginning, Treyarch said this mode would offer the distinct Call of Duty touch. Some more details on what this would entail were released on Tuesday.

Game Informer confirmed, as part of their monthly cover story, that Blackout will include AI-controlled zombies. Traditionally found in the four-player Zombies game mode, the undead's role in Blackout will serve mainly as a force of nature, which can be used to a player's advantage. Players can try and hide from the opposition by trying to blend in with the zombies, try and lure enemies into hordes, or try to avoid them entirely. After all, they're zombies and they'll act as an active obstacle in a player's survival.

This month's Game Informer magazine dives into further details on zombies in Blackout. Players will soon get to see how the undead operate in battle royale, as the Blackout beta kicks off on for PlayStation 4 users on September 10. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will hit PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 12.
