Game fans will surely remember hearing that Blizzard's hit RPG Diablo 3 is soon to make its way over to the Nintendo Switch. A release for Nintendo's hybrid handheld would provide a fresh opportunity for players to reap souls on-the-go, and now a Blizzard developer has revealed that the Switch version of Diablo 3 will also include Amiibo support.

Shacknews was able to learn this information on the showroom floor of PAX West 2018, through a Blizzard developer who was able to confirm that Amiibo functionality had been added. We don't yet know which Amiibo will be supported, nor do we know what sort of items they may provide in-game, but we do at least know that the support is there.

There's still no formal release date for Diablo 3 on the Nintendo Switch, but we do know what players can expect from the upcoming Diablo 3: Eternal Collection. The set will include the base game as well as the Rise of the Necromancer and Reaper of Souls expansion packs, and Switch fans will be able to look forward to several Zelda-themed bonuses like a Triforce portrait frame as well as a pet chicken.
