Sea of Thieves patch notes 1.2.2 fixes some commendation problems

A small patch that focuses on fixes and improvements.

5

This week’s Sea of Thieves update is small in size, but it offers some much needed fixes for players who are currently experiencing some commendation errors. According to the 1.2.2 Patch Notes, the Fleet Protector of the Ancient Isles commendation is now unlocking correctly, which should be good news for those pirates who were having issues with earning it.

We’re still in the midst of the Cursed Sails campaign, which means a new set of cursed cannonball-wielding pirate ships will be sailing the three main areas of the map. Be sure to check out the skeleton ship spawn times and locations guide to pinpoint where and when these ships will be showing up. Players who can only play during set times should now be able to complete all three regions for the commendations.

Though it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes, Executive Producer Joe Neate mentions in the developer update video that the Cursed Sails campaign is being extended by one week. The decision for this was to allow players another chance at earning some of those more difficult, time-specific commendations. Speaking of Joe Neate, Asif, Chris, and I got to sit down and play some Sea of Thieves with Joe and talk all about the future of the game!

One interesting point is that the download sizes of Sea of Thieves has expanded to include both Xbox One and Xbox One X, which could mean we’ll see varying sizes of updates for the systems. As always, players on Windows 10 who are having trouble updating should check out our guide on how to update Sea of Thieves on PC.

It has stuff to do. But it isn't chock full. Right now they are in the 3rd week of a 3 week event where you fight skeleton ships (enemy ships full of skeletons) that have cursed cannonballs. Each cannonball will do something different to you or your ship. This week it is 1 that puts your sails up and locks them for a certain period of time, 1 that puts the crew to sleep, and 1 that poisons the crew.

The past couple weeks since they put in Alliances I have been sailing with the Something Awful goons. And provided we can get a pubbie to let us on to their boat we then take it over and create a Goon Fleet. Like here was our fleet on Saturday https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/367639887777890309/477964136672919598/Sea_of_Thieves_Screenshot_2018.08.11_-_18.17.49.29.png

That's pretty cool. I really wanted it to be an MMO with loot and of course more creatures and whatnot. It's a letdown for me because I love the art and many of the mechanics.

One of the biggest issues I experience is "old" servers don't seem to get new ships. If you are playing a long time eventually every other boat on the map will disappear. They need to be much more aggressive in merging and repopulating servers.
