Overwatch League's first season has served as a historic milestone for esports, setting major sports network partnerships in stone and adding another layer of legitimacy to the esports industry. With the platform's success, Blizzard is aiming to expand in the second season with up to six new franchises from the North American, European, and Asian markets.

We previously reported that Overwatch League already sold an expansion slot for a team in Atlanta, Georgia and it was funded by Georgia-based Cox Enterprises. With a couple other slots headed to Europe and China pending some deals that are in negotiations, it's possible that another North American city could welcome a new team. Cleveland? A team there would be a pretty solid way to make up some of the money that's leaving with Lebron James' departure. Let us know what city you'd like to see get an Overwatch League team in Chatty.

Expansion slots for Overwatch League season 2 will carry a price tag between $30 million and $60 million and it will be influenced by the number of bidders, which should be high considering the progress the league has made in only one season. $20 million was the price of entry in the first season, but brand exposure opportunities are key to the raised price.

At this time, two entities are finalizing deals to obtain regional rights in Paris, France and Guangzhou, China. That'd bring the count to three of the potential six new additions for season 2, so stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
