Enter the Gungeon 'Advanced Gungeons & Draguns' Expansion Fires Next Week

Enter the Gungeon isn't finished pummeling the souls of roguelike players just yet, because its expansion is less than a week from release.

A couple of years ago, Devolver Digital and Dodge Roll Games brought out a tough-as-nails dungeon crawling roguelike that confounded many who played it. Enter the Gungeon was a big favorite at Shacknews in 2016, but developer Dodge Roll wasn't quite finished with their roguelike just yet. Back at last year's PAX West, the studio announced an expansion called Advanced Gungeons & Draguns. That expansion now has a release date and it's sooner than anyone thinks.

That's right! The expansion not only has a release date, but that date is next week! Advanced Gungeons & Draguns features hundreds of entirely new rooms, which will feature new weapons, items, enemies, and ammo types. To help explore everything that's coming Dodge Roll is offering "more generous" drop rates, but if this is anything like the original game, this will still be very hard. Enter the Gungeon is so hard, the Summer Games Done Quick run got stopped right in its tracks.

Advanced Gungeons & Draguns will release on Thursday, July 19 as a free update for Enter the Gungeon. It's set to hit PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. You may need a refresher course on this game, so be sure to dust off our old Tips for Beginners guide..

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
