The Sinking City Interview: 'Incomprehensible Beings' Are Part of the Game

The Old Gods will indeed be hanging around.

Shacknews' Andrew Zucosky was on hand with Sergey Oganesyan, Frogwares' Community Manager, during Shacknews' Indie Heaven event at E3 2018 to chat about the upcoming Lovecraftian indie game The Sinking City, which quite frankly looks pretty terrifying.

The open-world action investigation game takes place in the '20s, peppered with tons of H.P. Lovecraft's influence throughout. Oganesyan assured us that, in addition to investigation mechanics and a ton of other interesting gameplay tidbits, we'll definitely be meeting the Old Gods, or the "incomprehensible beings," as he referred to them. It'll also feature special insanity features, just like games such as Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

"We will have different effects, impacts it will have on gameplay, and also on the story itself."

The Sinking City was on hand for players to check out during E3 2018, with the same demo from GDC 2018, but it's growing, and it looks like it's going to offer a ton of content for players to sift through once they get their hands on it. It will take players on a journey to unravel the mysteries behind the titular city that's suddenly found itself underwater. It's a supernatural flood, of course, and it'll be on you to figure out why the city has suddenly found itself underwater.

The Sinking City is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 21, 2019.
