Hot on the heels of Nintendo and Microsoft embracing each other with Minecraft crossplay, Sony has revealed an exclusive console sponsored by one of the games that stirred up the crossplay conversation: Fortnite. Via the PlayStation Italia Facebook page, a new Fortnite PS4 bundle is on the way and comes with an exclusive skin and 500 V-Bucks.
Dexerto reported the find and included this translated statement from the Facebook page:
“Ready for summer challenges? From July 16th comes PS4 with Fortnite, the phenomenon of the year! In The Pack also there will be the special costume Royal Bomber and 500 v-bucks!”
Crossplay between the big three home gaming consoles has been a point of contention for a while, ramping up when users spotted PS4 and Xbox One players playing together in Fortnite last year. It was a "mistake" by the Fortnite team, but the fire was started.
The PS4 Fortnite bundle is slated for a July 16, 2018, release and is expected to carry the price point of a standard PS4. We'll update this story once Sony makes an official statement or reveal, so stay tuned to Shacknews. The images in this post are from Dexerto and the Sony Italia post seems to have been taken down at the time this was written.
