The next game from the creators of Life is Strange has been revealed.

The next game from Square Enix and Dontnod has been revealed on Microsofts stage at E3. The game is called The Adventures of Captain Spirit and follows a young child who aspires to be a superhero. Not too many details were given, but the game resembles the Life is Strange series as far as art direction goes, and it's likely that the game will lean into player choices as well.

it seems like this is a Farewell-sized teaser episode for LiS2, with clues embedded within it as to the nature of LiS2. this isn't the actual new full LiS2 game, or necessarily even what LiS2 is directly about. very excited to check it out!

free and it seems like it's a stand-alone teaser mini episode for Life is Strange 2, and only tangentially connected to the main plot of LiS2 through easter eggs and clues sprinkled throughout Captain Spirit

Apparently it will contain at least one choice that has some effect in Life is Strange 2.

Also I guess it actually connects in some way to the first game? Which seems like a foolishly short sighted decision, but whatever, Death of the Author is always an option.

"The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is not Life is Strange 2, but it does connect to it in multiple ways. This is the first step into the diverse world of Life is Strange beyond Arcadia Bay where you will find secrets and hints as to what to expect in Life is Strange 2. In addition to this, choices & actions you make in Captain Spirit will carry over to Life is Strange 2."
