No Hardware At PlayStation E3 Conference, Focus On Death Stranding & Three Other Exclusives

Third-party partnerships and indie games will get some shine on stage as well.

During a podcast, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden shared that no hardware will be shown at E3 2018 and there will be a focus on four specific PlayStation exclusive titles: Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-man, and The Last of Us Part II. A few entities have revealed a bit about their intentions at E3 2018 and we can now count Sony among them. Nintendo and Square-Enix haven't shared exactly what will be on the docket for them during the trade show, but Sony is setting clear expectations before their annual conference.

Gamespot reported on Layden's comment and he also shared that there's a "complete new report for everybody about what is happening around" Death Stranding. Ghost of Tsushima will have a "deep dive", which it is due for after its debut at the Paris Games Week in 2017 and not much being shared at PlayStation Experience at the end of the year.

Indie games and third-party partnerships will get time to shine during E3, but these four titles are power front line exhibitions for E3. Death Stranding is likely still pretty far out, but fans have been clamoring for information on Kojima's next project. Ghosts, The Last of Us, and Spider-man are going to have strong debuts this year in the fall and will more than hold fans over until the next E3. We do expect at least a couple short teases for unannounced titles as well.

The PlayStation E3 conference takes place on June 11, 2018, at 6 PM PT and will stream on Twitch, YouTube, and the official PlayStation website. Stay tuned to Shacknews for more E3 updates.
