God Of War Becomes the Fastest-Selling PS4 Exclusive

It seems that gamers are incredibly smitten with Dad of Boy.

On the heels of the incredible success of Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World, the PS4 has received its next smash hit with God Of War. Sony has revealed via its Playstation Blog that the Norse mythology action-adventure epic managed to sell 3.1 million copies over the first three days of release. Sony’s Santa Monica Studio was able to churn out a compelling experience centered around a father and son while also delivering the PS4’s defining technical showpiece and gamers responded by throwing money at Sony.

Santa Monica Studio head Shannon Studstill offered a gracious response to the news:

“I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us. Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play. I’d also like to thank our Creative Director, Cory Barlog, and Director of Product Development, Yumi Yang and our entire amazing team at Santa Monica Studio. The belief in the game’s vision and the passion for storytelling across the team is undeniable. We look forward to hearing more about how fans are creating new memories of their favorite God of War gameplay moments that will be remembered for a long time.”

We expect God Of War to continue selling like hotcakes throughout the year. It is likely to make an appearance in the Shacknews Best of 2018 lists at year’s end as well.
