Classic mascots and animation go together like Sonic and chili dogs.

Sega has just uploaded the second animated episode of Sonic Mania Adventures to YouTube, so that means it's time to take a break from whatever you're doing and indulge in some good, old-fashioned Saturday morning-esque cartoon time. No excuses. The smooth and vivid animation takes you back to those good old days when you could eat Spaghettios from the can (like my usual Friday night) and pig out on milk and sugary cereal without having to watch your waistline. It's pretty good, guys. That's why I'm excited there are going to be five different installments.

This is the second part though, called "Sonic and Tails," and you can watch it online for free below. This episode finds Sonic joining Tails at the beach when there's a tremor that strikes out of nowhere. Sonic and company learn that togetherness and teamwork is always warranted in certain situations, and get to the bottom of a few mysteries to top things off. It's nothing too complicated, but it's good, old-fashioned shut-your-brain-off entertainment if you like Sonic and friends.

If the animation looks familiar, it should, since the show is written and directed by Tyson Hesse, who created the opening animation for Sonic Mania, having since attracted over 15 million global views on YouTube. That, like 100 Sonic rings, is a lot of views. Miss out on the first episode? No worries! Just head over to the official YouTube channel to give it a look. Just don't get too bogged down with nostalgia. Looking to the future is good, too. Sometimes modern things are also cool!
