EVE Fanfest 2018 is an annual celebration of all things related to EVE Online and the EVE Online universe. Shacknews was on the scene to discuss several new additions to EVE, including the latest expansion, mobile adaptation, and more. It's going to be a great year for EVE fans.

Lead 3D Artist Willem van Biljon, also known as CCP Salvo, was on hand to discuss the process behind creating EVE Online's interstellar artwork as well as the colors and ideas that go along with it.

Biljon played EVE Online for three years before joining CCP, and has been at the company for about five years. He's worked on several aspects of the game, most recently the Into the Abyss expansion and the new Triglavian Collective ships as well as environments.

"EVE is a really dark and dystopian universe, so we tend to lean toward that color scheme," Biljon said of the game's artwork, which has a darkly gorgeous quality to it. We can certainly agree, as it's rife with some of the best-looking galaxyscapes seen in most games, if not the best.
