During today's Nindie showcase, the company closed out the stream with the wonderful news that The Banner Saga from Stoic will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The third and final entry will arrive this summer at launch and the previous two entries will arrive "soon".

The Banner Saga features a rich, branching narrative built upon a turn-based tactical combat system with a piercing art-style. The series has been one of the most critically acclaimed indie releases since the series debut and the third title is highly anticipated. The game's UI is beautiful and very minimalist, lending to it being another title that should fit snuggly onto the Switch. The map navigation will benefit from the console's touch screen, as will the tactical combat.

The first and third Banner Saga games were funded via Kickstarter. The second was not and the game's technical director felt like Stoic completely dropped the ball by not reaching out to its community. The conclusion is slated for release this Summer, well before the original release date set in December, so stay tuned to Shacknews for more information in the coming months.
