Metal Gear Survive Beta Coming To Consoles Next Week

Curious fans will finally get to see for themselves what a post-Kojima Metal Gear game has to offer.

Hold onto your eyepatches and dust off your favorite cardboard boxes, the Metal Gear Survive beta launches next week. Starting on January 18th and running until January 21st, the beta will give players a chance to earn some exclusive in-game loot for the full version when it launches.

The demo will include three missions and two maps for players to explore along with Metal Gear Survive’s co-op mode. PS4 players will get to try out the beta regardless of whether or not they have a Playstation Plus subscription, but Xbox One players will need a Live subscription. Unfortunately, PC gamers will not be getting a beta of their own.

Along with the beta, Konami also hooked up IGN with 6 minutes of exclusive gameplay footage to get everyone hyped. Metal Gear Survive is scheduled to launch in the US on February 20th for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

They showed some gameplay during the Videogame awards or some event before that, for a spinoff of the Metal Gear franchise it looked pretty boring and more like an average loot + grind + survival game.

I remember other shackers not liking it on that thread.

        I'm not. Why?
        1. No Hideo Kojima. :(
        2. Another front page article (in before "there's a front page lololol?")

Konami is moving on with the Metal Gear franchise after the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima. It's new title Metal Gear Survive is a 4-player co-op game with zombies, scheduled for release in 2017.

Zombies? In my Metal Gear? No thanks.

I'm not. The Kojimaness is the whole point of MG stuff. Without him it's just random future military wank.

Maybe it's the contrarian in me speaking but I think it looks pretty neat. Like an open world Dead Rising with more involved survival/crafting and base building. I don't really care that Kojima's not involved, I was prepared for MGS to end after MGS4 anyway.

Metal Gear introduced some of the most creative and inventive adversaries I’ve ever fought in video games. Now, it’s zombies.

I think I’ll pass on this one.
