FromSoftware Teases Next Game at The Game Awards [Update]

Yes, FromSoftware has a new game in the works. Obviously.

Update: "Shadows Die Twice" appears to be no tagline, but the actual title of the game, according to the trailer posted on The Game Awards YouTube channel. That trailer has been posted.

Original story: The Game Awards pre-show ended with a glimpse of the next game from the folks at FromSoftware.

And "glimpse" is definitely the word for it.

Aside from the briefest of teasers and a potential title, there's little else to gleam about what's coming up next from the makers of Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Stay tuned and Shacknews will be here with updates as they come in.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

A bloody winch made of bone, with Asian-themed calligraphy on parchment in the background. Neat!

Think that’s intestines or other tissue that is wrapped around a screw type thing. Believe it is a torture device I can’t remember the name of.

I just hope they do something other than Soulsborne. That series is so fucking boring, can't understand why anyone would play that shit.

the use of shadow in the copy leads me to believe it's a follow up to Shadow Tower?

(i didn't mean to sound so dismissive, it'll be amazing. It's just funny how ps1 games aged way worse than most other consoles)

From has ONE game with scary stuff and ancient talisman calligraphy and that is Kuon. You play through the game from the point of view of two different characters (shadows die twice?).

If they’re doing a new survival horror game set in feudal Japan, that would be amazing!

I don’t think this is highly likely, but Miyazaki has said he’d like to do more games with historical Japanese flavor.

You know what would be awesome? A Souls game in an Alice in Wonderland setting.
