Free PlayStation Plus Games for December Take it Easy for the Holidays

Not every month can be a winner, I guess.

For the end of 2017, PlayStation seems to be taking it a little easier on the free PlayStation Plus games, compared to previous months. Don't look for any blowaway AAA releases this month, as the PlayStation Plus highlight for December appears to be the Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition. This is the collection of the original game with all of its DLC, released all the back near the end of 2015, updated to native 1080p with a few balancing tweaks.

The other PlayStation 4 game is Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends. Yes, PlayStation is looking back at the days when Kung Fu Panda was a thing, as Po and the other characters from that world engage in Smash Bros-style four-player combat.

Here are the free games PlayStation Plus members can grab in December, as noted in Wednesday morning's PlayStation.Blog post:

  • Darksides II: Deathinitive Edition (PS4)
  • Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends (PS4)
  • Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (PS4/PSVR)
  • Syberia Collection (PS3)
  • Xblaze Lost: Memories (PS3)
  • Forma.8 (PS Vita, PS4)
  • Wanted Corp (PS Vita)

PlayStation Plus members can also pick up a special Smite PlayStation Plus Pack for free, containing 31 Skins, 20 Gods, and Voice Packs starting on December 12. And of course, there's exclusive access to the Monster Hunter World beta, which is set to run from December 9-12.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
