ten dollar rocket league!
DNF - Still $4.98 too much.
A penny for DNF... I dunno... still seems like too much.
Duke Nukem Forever was a dumb, fun game that got a bad reputation because it was never going to live up to the hype. It also has one of the best shotguns.
Yeah I can't truly judge, I never played the game.
Well then. It does get shat on but it is great fun, especially for that price.
It also contains some hideously ugly content, and I'm not talking about art assets or game mechanics as those were both adequate, especially after the four weapon patch.
However, back when I played it in late 2011 there was a specific point (when you are forced, as they block the only path, to kill the twins to progress amid their begging and declarations of losing their worth) where I exited the game and gave serious thought as to if I actually wanted to continue playing something like that.
That shit was just gross.
I'm not sure that continuing was the correct thing to do, but I did until I got frustrated drowning in water which I guess is right before the end, so whatever.
Outside of some very unfortunate moments it was an alright shooter, however I found it more fascinating to examine the game as if it were an artifact. You can practically see the strata of development cycles and trends buried in it.
Yeah, that scene was certainly a "What the hell were they thinking?" moment. Design wise, that game left me with more questions than answers.
It's a SP arena shooter and honestly I hate SP arena shooters. They generally feel like a chore. At the same time nuDoom is also a SP arena shooter, yet I managed to enjoy it. On some level I think it's all about intent. nuDoom is 100% cartoon violence, much like Duke3D.
There is no sense of bitterness or resentment transferred from the character to the player than there is from the anvil to Wile E. Coyote's head. Doom Marine is pissed off, but something about the idea of him being that pissed off is humerus. He isn't rational and the game never really asks you to see him as rational. He is the guy on the heavy metal album cover.
All of that said, my hat still goes off to the DNF team. That game may have been a total mess, but they finished it. Hell, it's the only video game to inspire multiple parodies years before it's own release.
Ha, I was about to make this same post. In what world should that ever be listed on a "Best" list of any kind?
Best Games to Never Buy
Duke3d.exe World Tour is down to $6.79, which puts it in the ballpark of what I'd be willing to kick in for just the new episode as a curiosity.
I'll ponder on that some while I work on my shopping list.
Good call, been meaning to try this.
Anything go0d, briefcase duder?
Please by Siege but please not the starter edition
I think there's a bullet point missing
Crazy to see brand new releases on sale already. Thats a new trend for steam.
Or a call back to the old days?
Just four months after its release Batman: Arkham Asylum was included in the Eidos Collector Pack which was a 20 game pack selling for $50 during that winter sale, which was still the retail price of Arkham Asylum by itself elsewhere.
Though 50% of games a month old is pretty crazy.
Admittedly they weren't all winners but still, it was for the price of Batman anywhere else:
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Conflict: Denied Ops
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Flora's Fruit Farm
Hitman: Codename 47
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Hitman: Blood Money (4)
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Shellshock 2: Blood Trails
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Tomb Raider: Legend
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Was with you on the best deal thing until I saw the 100 dollar game for only 90.
LOL, I can’t sneak anything passed you!
That's fir sure!
BRUTAL Doom II check-in:
I just played the first 3 levels of Doom II and OH. MY. GAWD did they improve the shit out of this game. What they've done with the Super Shotgun alone is incredible.
Fuckin' lovin' it!!
I picked up the Stellaris DLC, submerged, and rocket birds.
Submerged was 85% off.
Arma 3 is at $13.49 I believe which is one of the lowest prices it has been at.
yeah im pestering my friends to buy it so i have someone to play with. Great game
I have the Arma 3 - Extended Edition on steam which apparently Includes 10 items: Arma 3, Arma 3 Tools, Arma 3 Soundtrack, Arma 3 Zeus, Arma 3 Karts, Arma 3 Helicopters, Arma 3 DLC Bundle 1, Arma 3 Marksmen, Arma 3 Samples, Arma 3 Malden
