There are some incredible original experiences in the VR software ecosystem, but the needle won't move for some curious folk unless there's a recognized name on the game case. Ace Combat is a long-running combat flight simulator and its seventh entry, Skies Unknown, is delivering some virtual reality love.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will have missions exclusively for the PlayStation VR headset, so you'll need one for the full experience. A trailer released during Paris Games Week has given us a glimpse at the VR mode:
The missions will take place outside of the game's main campaign, but look fairly impressive in the trailer. Full campaign integration like what we got in Resident Evil 7 would have been lovely, but there's nothing stopping the developer from giving players more VR content post-launch. The game's performance may determine that move so we'll see how things come together when Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown arrives with VR in tow in 2018.
