In 2015, it was announced that everyone would finally be able to witness the sporting event we've all been waiting for: Giant robot fights. A group of American engineers challenged engineers in Japan and the super heavyweight bout between MegaBots and Suidobashi was born. Two years and some change later, the fight to top all fights is upon us and we'll be able to watch it live via Twitch on October 17.

When MegaBots made the original challenge, they were using the kickstarted MK. II to take on Japan's Kuratas. Due to some delays and new tech, the US will enter the fray with the 12-ton MK. III. Kuratas is created by Suidobashi Heavy Industries and, in their response to the challenge, one of the engineers stated that they couldn't let any other country win such a battle because "Giant robots are Japanese culture."

The Kuratas has even been featured in a live-action series called Patlabor: The Next Generation. Patlabor itself is an iconic manga and anime series based on the robot of the same name and Kuratas will attempt to build upon its own legacy with a win against the MK. III.

Tune in to the super heavyweight match on October 17 via MegaBotsInc's official Twitch channel and see who walks about with the belt.
