If virtual reality is going to grow, big names in game development will have to dive into the VR ecosystem and bring some of their established communities with them. Turtle Rock Studios, the crew behind Left 4 Dead and Evolve, will possibly be doing just that with their fantasy RPG The Well when it releases October 11 on Samsung Gear VR.

“The Well is not only our most ambitious VR title to date, it is our most unique,” said Steve Goldstein, President and General Manager of Turtle Rock Studios, in the press release. “We're excited to create a new, original fantasy world unlike anything we’ve seen before, and it’s specifically crafted for the Gear VR platform. It’s not just a fun game, it’s beautiful. Gear VR is a medium that allows us to push the creative envelope and bring to life games we never thought possible.”

In The Well, players will explore the planet of Tholl where a demonic force called the Tesh are rising up. An oracle tasks you with keeping the balance, so you must recruit allies to defeat the Tesh and unravel the mysteries of Tholl.

Not only will established devs need to supply some intriguing titles like The Well to the VR ecosystem, new entities will be built from scratch on the foundation of great games. Well-established franchises are also finding a home on VR headsets, so there is surely something for everyone out there.

The Well will launch on the Gear VR October 11 and will cost $9.99.
