For Honor is preparing to usher in Season 3, which will feature some new additions to the combat game. This includes a whole new game mode revealed in the game's latest trailer.

Tribute mode is an objective mode that pits two teams of four against one another. The idea is for teams to collect three offerings placed in different locations on the map and return them to any one of their three shrines. Returning an offering successfully to a shrine will bestow a team-wide bonus, with each shrine granting a different bonus. Players will inevitably clash on the battlefield, as they fight for these offerings, with the victor picking it up as they would a flag in any standard Capture the Flag mode. Successfully getting all three offerings activates a countdown clock, with the defending team being granted victory if they can ward off their opponents until time runs out.

Tribute mode looks to be an interesting addition to For Honor, particularly for fans of team-based modes and tournament organizers looking to shake up their esports scene. More information on Tribute mode, including some demonstrations, will be revealed Thursday, September 14 at 12PM ET on the For Honor Twitch channel. Look for Season 3 of For Honor to kick off this Friday, September 15. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
