The birth and life of Pokemon Go has been quite the roller coaster ride. From annoying Pokemon to increasingly annoying events, Niantic’s game hasn’t been without its share of issues despite being so wildly popular. Recently, those that continue the game have been being treated to limited hunts for the legendary birds. Since launch, questions of when Mewtwo would be available were prevalent and now we have answers. Mewtwo will be featured as a part of the new Exclusive Raid Battle system, but participation will be invite-only.

Niantic debuted Exclusive Raid Battles in Japan recently, putting a spin on the current Raid Battles by requiring an invite. As detailed in Niantic’s post, the invites go out a good bit before the raid takes place and allow players to coordinate and devise a strategy. The event has been completed by an unknown amount of players in Japan, but it is certainly known that someone has captured the legendary Pokemon.

The criteria for receiving an invite involves having recently completed one of the standard raids at the particular gym where the upcoming Exclusive Raid will be taking place. Mewtwo launches the Exclusive Raids but Niantic’s blog says that other legendary Pokemon will start to hatch from the Raid Eggs that are earned in the raids. Exclusive Raids will be made available in the coming weeks but you best start training now. Also, take a look at our guides for capturing and using Articuno and Lugia.
