Wasteland 2 video plays with camera angles

A short demonstration of Wasteland 2 was shown at Unite 2012, and inXile's Brian Fargo offered it to show what the in-game camera can do. Unfortunately, it shows pretty much the same scene revealed in the game's first screenshot.

Enough people were excited about the prospect of a sequel to 1987's post-apocalyptic RPG Wasteland for the Kickstarter campaign to hit its $900,000 goal in only two days, but how many pledgers actually played the original? Ah. I haven't. Have you? Well, no matter, soon we'll all be able to play, as developer inXile has announced Wasteland 2 will come with the first Wasteland.

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter ends with $3.04 million

When inXile's crowd-funding drive for a Wasteland 2 hit its goal within two days, it was clear it'd be something big. As the pledging period ended this morning, inXile confirmed that it has scooped $3,040,574 to make a sequel to the classic post-apocalyptic RPG.

Making a sequel to a fairly obscure game that's nearly 25 years old isn't an easy task. In the case of Wasteland 2, it's the spiritual predecessor of an entirely different property, the Fallout series. InXile Entertainment Is now working on the game at long last, and company CEO Brian Fargo has talked about some of the struggles as he tried to get the project through the traditional publisher model.

Now that the Wasteland 2 project is rapidly approaching the $1.5 million mark in Kickstarter funds (still with 25 days remaining), InXile's Brian Fargo updated the fans and supporters on what's next.

Fargo has maintained that that $1.5 million mark would allow additional development of the game for both Mac and Linux. He added that no matter how much they receive though, there is no plan to bring Wasteland 2 to any console or handheld platform.

Wasteland 2 hits funding goal in two days

It took only two days for inXile's Kickstarter fan-fund Wasteland 2 to hit its $900,000 goal, and the pledges keep on coming. With 33 days left to go, inXile has so far raised $958,458, so we're on course for the sequel to Interplay's widely-adored vintage post-apocalyptic RPG to be very shiny indeed.

Wasteland 2 launches Kickstarter funding

Kickstarter may be bringing giving a jolt of life to another classic PC genre ignored by modern publishers, the turn-based tactical RPG. 24 years after Wasteland's release, some of the gang behind the classic post-apocalyptic RPG and the series it inspired, Fallout, have reunited at inXile Entertainment to make a sequel. To fund Wasteland 2 for PC, they're turning to the fans, launching a crowd-funding campaign seeking $900,000.
